Frequently Asked Questions
1. What exactly does a doula do?
A doula is a trained support person who provides continuous emotional, physical, and spiritual care throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I do not replace medical providers. I walk beside you to offer informed guidance, advocacy, and comfort that honors your voice and your rhythm.
2. Do you attend home births or hospital births?
I honor all birth spaces. Whether you are giving birth at home, in a hospital, or at a birth center, I provide grounded and nonjudgmental support. Your birth is sacred, no matter where it takes place.
3. Is this only for unmedicated births?
Not at all. I support medicated and unmedicated births, cesareans, VBACs, and everything in between. My role is to support your choices with care and without judgment.
4. I’m not sure what I want for my birth yet. Can I still hire you?
Yes, absolutely. Many people begin this journey with uncertainty. I can help you explore your options, build trust in yourself, and gain clarity on what feels right. You do not need to have it all figured out to be supported.
5. Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. I believe sacred care should be accessible. I offer flexible payment plans for most packages and am happy to work with you to find something manageable.
6. Will you be on call when I go into labor?
Yes. I begin on-call support at 38 weeks and remain available 24 hours a day until your baby arrives. I am also available for check-ins as you approach your birthing time.
7. What if my partner wants to be really involved?
That is beautiful. I love helping partners feel confident and connected. I offer gentle guidance, hands-on tools, and emotional support to help them be active participants during labor and beyond.
8. What does postpartum support include?
Postpartum care can include emotional check-ins, breastfeeding guidance, newborn care tips, herbal sitz bath preparation, and light household support. I also create space for you to reflect and process your birth story. You do not have to navigate this time alone.
9. What if I just want support after birth?
That is absolutely available. I offer postpartum-only packages for families needing support in the first six weeks. These visits include healing guidance, rest support, and nurturing care during your transition.
10. How do I know if we’re a good fit?
Let’s connect and see. I offer a free consultation where we can talk openly, share your vision, and feel into whether our energies align. You will know if it’s right, and I will honor your intuition fully.
